Compare Two Environments
Quickly compare source and destination content in order to see what needs to be incrementally migrated and to prove to customers that every item from the source made it to destination.
To be compared:
-items
-site settings
-site features
-lists and libraries228 votesThis is not currently in our plan to allow our users to compare two environments.
We might do it in the future, possibly starting with permission as it seems like it would be the most useful part on security level.

Sync Options in the Migration Tool - Incremental Copy
For example, if a file has been deleted in the source after it had gotten copied over to SharePoint, can it be deleted in SharePoint?
The goal is to re-sync only the updates, additions and deletions without the need to copy the whole thing again. It allows to keep on using the source environment while keeping the destination one sync until we're ready to go live with the new site.
Applies to:
-users
-documents (move them to a different location if the user has moved it since the last update)
-content types
-columns
-terms202 votesAs much as we hear your need, this is not currently on our road map. We will revisit it eventually.

Broken link scan and correcting feature
A feature through which we can correct the links...
-located inside pages
-located inside documents
-located in any type of migrated item
-external links
-links pointing to unpublished documents.171 votesHi everyone,
It’s been a while since this suggestion has been updated so I just want to let you know that after re-evaluation, we still not planning on adding such a feature in the near future.
We will continue to read your comments so don’t hesitate to send in more.
Thanks again for sharing your feedback.

Run and Automate Reporting Jobs with PowerShell
Be able to run and schedule reports using PowerShell.
153 votesTell us more ·AdminJean-Philippe Beaulieu (Voice of the User / User researcher, ShareGate) responded
Since the ability to schedule reports has been included for a while now and with the upcoming feature to automatically export reports into a SP library (see: https://feedback.sharegate.com/forums/912880/suggestions/17768698), I was wondering if this suggestion will still be needed?
What are your thoughts on this?

Usage reporting and analytics - Event counts (views, deletion, etc.)
-show number of views to a site, or a document.
-show number of visits and of unique visitors.
-show trending content.
-show number of other audited events.
-show most active users.
-Run it on the entire farm and show stats by sites. The goal is to monitor internally the user's experience with SharePoint.

Review Auto-Assign as Site Collection Administrator Process
Review the way Sharegate uses the auto-assign feature
- Handle differently per type of site (OneDrive, Groups, Team sites)
- Setting per tenant / farm / connection
- Option to auto-remove after each operations
- Handle special cases (eDiscovery sites, NO ACCESS or Read-only)
148 votesSince the default is now disabled. It should prevent most situation some of you are describing.
We still feel like the Auto-Assign as site collection administrator is a useful option in certain case.
If you encounter an issue you can always refer to this documentation to fix it. https://support-desktop.sharegate.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000647528-Can-I-remove-myself-as-an-administrator-after-I-have-auto-assigned-myself-as-one-

Add Custom Rules and Filters During Migration or Import
[Admin note: Merged all suggestion related to more complex filtering during Migration or Import]
- Filter on full file names instead of just exensions.
- Filter with wildcards
- Include / Exclude folder by name using the custom templates
- Exclude specific (sub) folders based on names
- Timestamp/range filters - last modified date and created date
- List or site template filters
- Filter by property (name, type, etc.)
- Filter by size
- Filter empty objects (sites, libraries, folders, ...)
- Exclude specific type of objects (Microfeed...)
133 votesWe feel like our migration experience is quite good right now and we don’t plan on doing custom rules and filters for now.
Some of those can already be done using PowerShell, SharePoint views and other means.
We will eventually reevaluate this once we advance further in our roadmap.

Report on Metadata
Report on the metadata columns used inside lists and libraries.
120 votesNot For Now ·AdminJean-Philippe Beaulieu (Voice of the User / User researcher, ShareGate) responded
Hi everyone,
Since we want to be transparent regarding our roadmap, I just wanted to do a quick update to say that even though we are not declining this idea, we are not planning on adding metadata reporting in the near future. We’ll keep you informed if and when we start working on it.
Thank you,

Add a ''Move'' and Delete Option
Having to remember to keep the selection, verify the copy & then delete stuff when you're moving thousands of files around is really hard & painful when you make a mistake. It would be great if you guys had a move option that took care of all of that
113 votesThinking About it ·AdminJean-Philippe Beaulieu (Voice of the User / User researcher, ShareGate) responded
Hi everyone.
I am glad to say that we are currently exploring the possibility to add an option to automatically make Read-only and/or Delete the source of migration if it goes errorless.
We’ll keep you updated with any news on this.
Cheers,
J-P

Incremental Migration of Error Items Only & Retry
The idea is to use the migration report to start a new migration of the files that error out only, instead of running a full incremental migration.
113 votesAs much as we really like this idea, it doesn’t fit in the current narrative of ShareGate Desktop.
We will for sure reevaluate this one in a near future.
-
Progress Indicator of Pre-check & Migration
Display more details while operation is running and as summary on completion:
- Elapsed time
- Breakdown by sites, lists/librairies, files, items instead of just "items" and "objects" count
- Possibility to drill down progress breakdown by site, by list
- Size of processed data (+ total if possible)
- Inbound / Outbound network speeds
- Remaining time (if possible)
- Time / size of Azure upload jobs
- etc.For Migrations in PowerShell, add -vebose like cmdlet to allow users to see the progress of the migration instead of waiting for the migration to finish/script execution to end.
110 votesWe don’t plan on adding progress indicator as we feel it would only become misleading because estimation are really hard to make due to technical limitations.

Workflow Reporting
- Find all workflows that are running or in-progress
- See the name of the workflows
- Run report on workflows, out of the box, SP designer, Nintext, 3rd party
- Be able to create a report that will list the status of the workflows
- Report on workflows published by a specific user
- Report on how many workflow tasks are assigned to a particular user
87 votesWe’ve release a version of Workflow reporting a few months ago and are trying to figure out where we are going with this.
Please tell us what you would like us to add to this feature.
-
Recycle bin management
-Run reports on the recycle bin content
-Be able to restore the content
-Be able to delete the content84 votesWe have no plan of supporting the recycle bin in ShareGate Desktop.
-
O365 content archive / backup
Archival of O365 content
- Store in Azure
- Store locally (download)
- Restore to O365 or locally
Browse / Search archive
Backup features
- Scheduled / Incremental options81 votesRecently, we launched ShareGate Apricot, a tool that offers to delegate the decision of archiving stale groups to users.
That being said, an office 365 backup feature is not something we are planning to add to ShareGate Desktop. We’ll still keep the suggestion opened to new votes and comments and keep our eyes on it. But for now, it is not part of our priorities.
We’ll update the suggestion if our plans change.
Thank you,
-
Report on Managed Metadata (Term Store)
- run reports on managed metadata
- Term/Termset usage report
- create a report which can tell us which documents do not have metadata attached to it

Pause Migration & Other Tasks
It would be nice to be able to pause the migration and then later restart it
72 votesThanks for taking the time to post this idea. We looked at it with the team and for now have decided that it’s not something we will be working on short term.
We’ll keep looking at the requests and update if we anything changes

InfoPath forms reporting
By adding InfoPath to the filters, one could find all the lists that uses them and it could be helpful in some migration scenarios.
68 votesWe have no plan or adding InfoPath filters in reporting. We know it would make your migration to the cloud a little bit smoother, but it doesn’t fit in ShareGate Desktop’s current narrative.

Preserve List Items IDs for On-Premise Migrations
Preserve List Items ID's
64 votesNot For Now ·AdminJean-Philippe Beaulieu (Voice of the User / User researcher, ShareGate) responded
Hi everyone,
Lately we decided to shift most of our energy towards migrating, managing and adopting Office 365. When we create new features, we make sure they also work with SharePoint on-premise (if possible), but we are not planning on developing more options of features specifically for on-premise at the moment.
I’ll keep the suggestion open and our ears are still open to new comments.
Thank you,

Report duplicates files and document
Pull reports on duplicated files or documents. Clean them after.
63 votesThis is not in our short or medium plan. We understand the need but don’t feel like it’s our priority right now as we focus on the adoption of the modern workplace.
-
Permissions management at item/folder level
Add the possibility to add permissions at the item level with the reporting tool.
Item
Folder
DocumentSet60 votesWe are currently reconsidering this suggestion and are wondering if it is still a need for you, especially if you are an Office 365 user.
Let us know and we will reevaluate this eventually.
