Find documents that have never been check-in.
Be able to mass check in.18 votes
Sharegate 5.20 can now help you to deal documents with no checked-in version. You can run the Checked Out Documents report to find them, or create a new report using the Never Checked-in filter. Plus with the edit option, you can either check them in or delete them.
Also, if you ever need anything from us, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Hello from Sharegate! We released Sharegate 7.1 last week and we are happy to let you know that you can now perform a Copy Structure to Office 365 and force the new experience on lists.
Additionally, here is the list of supported Web Parts for the New Experience https://support.share-gate.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004220574
And as a complement, you can now create a new report on Lists and Libraries (Office 365 of course) with “List Experience” filter and column. From there, you can edit the “List Experience” in the properties displayed in the Quick Actions panel (in the report or directly in the explorer). The “List Experience” can be set to “Tenant default”, “New experience” or “Classic experience”.
My friend Alexandra explains it all in detail with this blog article https://en.share-gate.com/blog/modern-experience-web-apps-and-navigation-improvement
We hope you enjoy these new functionalities!
In a migration from on-premises to Office 365, we need to convert a records management functionality that handles document retention to date in Office 365 labels.15 votes
With today’s release of ShareGate Desktop, Retention labels will be kept during the migration, ONLY for migrations on the same tenant. This should allow you to move elements around in your environments and ensure that they don’t lose information along the way.
If you have any other suggestion, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Import / Export connections
Add connections in bulk14 votes
Greetings from Sharegate!
We are not yet in March, but we decided that Sharegate 7.3 would come out just a bit earlier. Of course, we included our new PowerShell command to export current connections in the Explorer. Here is how to use them : https://support.share-gate.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000094203#export
Please add the document library column "version" that stores the value of the most current document version to the document reporting. Thanks! I love you guys!14 votes
You can build reports on:
– Version- and approval-related settings in Lists and libraries (enabled or not, major/minor limits, require checkout, approval setting)
– Version number for items and documents
Hopefully this now covers all needs!
All special characters should now be properly handled in Sharegate.
Note: Know that different platforms (2013, 2016, O365, file share, Google Drive, Box) support different special characters, so you’ll still have replacements in some cases.
Can’t I just pick one web application and Sharegate would know about all the site collections in that web application? I seem to remember this was possible in the older Sharegate 5+ series.12 votes
We heard you were looking for your web apps… look no further. We listened to your feedback and brought them back to the Explorer!
Thanks for you for helping to build a better product everyday!
It's great that you have made the option for Scheduling available, it's really useful but what happens if you made an error and you want to change something, you would need to delete the already made schedule and create a new one. The same would happen if you created a new site collection that you need to report on.
How about, the option to restart the same Task in the history, I want the same report that I ran a month ago, but I do not need it scheduled, this way I could.12 votes
With today’s release of ShareGate Desktop, you can now edit the parameters of your scheduled tasks. This should make you life easier and circumvent the need to delete and recreate a schedule from scratch.
If you have any feedback about this or anything else in the application, don’t hesitate to contact us again.

In explorer view, It would be nice when looking at all the site collections in a web application, if I could sort by URL instead of the name of the site collection.12 votes
Sharegate 5.23 now present a whole new experience in the explorer. You can now filter by site collections, OneDrive for Business and O365 Groups, and search by name or URL.
Take a look at our blog post : https://en.share-gate.com/blog/introducing-the-improved-sharegate-explorer-an-all-new-experience-for-users
I would like to be able to create a report in Sharegate, and then be able to select items in the report (either sites or lists/libraries) and delete them from the corresponding SharePoint farm.12 votes
With our latest release (5.19), you can now delete files, lists and libraries directly from the Quick Actions panel added to report results!
See the release notes for complete details on this new version – https://support.share-gate.com/hc/en-us/articles/115007882767-Release-Notes-5-19
Sharegate 5.17 is now available!! We now support files up to 10GB in size when you are migrating to SharePoint 2016 or Office 365 (can only be done in normal mode).
Thanks a lot for helping us getting better!
-Currently, you need to expand the groups as a second operation after the Permission Matrix Report is completed. In some cases, it takes as long as the report itself. I'd like the ability to toggle it by default when running the operation.
-Have the ability to auto-expand the groups in the permission matrix report before the export is done or have a button to Export and Expand the groups in the report.11 votes4 comments · 06- Permission Matrix Report and Permission Management · Flag idea as inappropriate… · Admin →Pow! Good news! With yesterday’s update (12.0.2), the groups will now be expanded in the Permissions matrix report only when the report is automatically exported to a library.
We are not planning on auto-expanding the groups in the UI in the near future.
We hope this will help you in your workflows.
to have the option to download content from OneDrive subfolders. Currently limited to library level.11 votes
With today’s release, we added the ability to download only some files in a document library.
This can be done either directly from the explorer or with the results of a report on documents (which will allow you to filter for desired documents).
Hope you enjoy that new feature.
Don’t hesitate to give us feedback, we always appreciate it!

It would be wonderful to have a report that would report against Office 365 groups. I'm particularly looking for one that would report on all groups that were created as "Public" and who created the group.11 votes
It is now possible to report on O365 Groups, with filters and report columns for properties specific Groups such as Private/Public, owners, members, etc.
We’re moving forward with more O365 Groups support in management and migration, look for it in upcoming releases.
One more thing: as in most every place in Sharegate, we should be able to export the SharePoint inventory details in some form :-)11 votes
You can now export All Errors and Warnings from the SharePoint Inventory. Please update to Sharegate 5.13.2.
You can now see where are the errors and warnings, and correct them before a migration!
We’re currently planning the View details Report. https://sharegate.uservoice.com/forums/373710-general/suggestions/15667236-sharepoint-inventory-report-details
From this details we’ll update the export excel to allow you to see the whole inventory.
Thanks a lot for your feedback!
I really miss the option in the "All tasks" (previous reports) to select more than 50 items. I'm doing migrations up to 700 sites which makes copy/pasting 14 different reports into 1 Excel file a lot of efforot. Is there a way to export all tasks or more than 50 to 1 Excel?10 votes
Greetings from Sharegate!
At the beginning of April, we released Sharegate 7.4 that contains the functionality to display more than 50 items in All Tasks. It is now possible to display 50, 100, 200 and 500 items per page. We hope it is answering your needs! Please leave us your feedback!
Please put in an option to "clean orphaned users" in the report, as I was in the Reporting option and it only gave me a read only option. I was confused as I wanted to clean and go through the orphaned users, but that is in explorer. Thank you!10 votes
With the release of Sharegate Desktop 8.5, it is now possible to clean orphaned users directly from the Orphaned Users report.
This should make it easier and faster to get rid of those users.
For the full release notes of version 8.5, please see: https://support.share-gate.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001391186
There were some remaining issues on Microsoft’s side with long URLs (up to 400 chars) when using the migration API (Insane mode). They were finally fixed recently and we’ll be updating Sharegate in the next release (Sept. 5) to fully support all migration paths for long URLs up to 400 characters.
Side note : Files above 2GB still cannot go through Insane mode. Again, this is a limitation in Office 365 and not in Sharegate. We’ll support it as soon as a fix is available.
Have a warning when Sharegate fall back to the parent site when connecting to a location that doesn't exist
Or have an option to prevent URL fallback9 votes
Great news from Sharegate!
Today we released Sharegate 8.0! The Connect-Site command will display an error message if the URL is invalid and will no longer try to fallback.
Don’t forget to leave us your feedback!
Hi, So I just ran the inventory for a File Share! I can't seem to find teh export functionality new to 13.3.2 Did I miss something?8 votes
We’ve just release Sharegate 5.15 where you will find Inventory details CSV and Excel export for SharePoint, O365 and FileShare.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help. And have a fantastic Monday!
