Building it  ·  AdminJordan Rowe (Admin, ShareGate) responded  ·

With the recent removal of the Insights feature from Sharegate Desktop, part of this request has been realigned and will be integrated into our future new and improved version of Insights. The status is still “building it” but the ETA is no longer what was expected initially. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Cheers!

We looked into products to perform backups too, but have settled on using preservation hold on all sites in SPO, which provides backup and recovery indefintely and does not impact our quota.

Love ShareGate (light for install, easy to use and learn, well designed and architect, comprehensive perspective) and hope this feature (backup/restore) be added soon so we don't have to look for another 3rd party.

        Ideal world feature list required:
Backup both manually and schedule base. Granular as SC,site, lib. Export options to store it into another on-promises environment or on network share.

Restore Options: to restore one lib, site or SC. be able to restore into another site (not only in-place restore), be able to restore data back from Network drive or On-promises into O365.

        Some common scenarios:
        - be able to search for a file name/lib name (which has been deleted) inside our backup then restore it
        - be able to archive some of our SP project sites (which has been completed and not need to be on O365 anymore) for long time on network drive and in case needed just search for one/two specific files
We are not living in ideal world so any of above would be appreciated.

        Great job as always!

SPO backup including OD is crucial for our business, any plans to for a proper protection solution from Sharegate?

Options to store to cloud storage or on-prem (https, ftps, etc...) integration with tape, site to site backup, etc...

restore SC, site, subsites, libraries and items (including versions), permissions and metadata and term store information

        thank you

I used ShareGate for a year and it was perfect! Just missing the feature of incremental backup or at least, recycle bin backup!

Give Sharegate the capacity to backup Office 365 Libraries with the possibility to roll back a version in case of malware attack

        Any word on this?
We're currently reviewing our options and have been very much impressed with the potential of ShareGate. But without scheduled/automatic backups of our O365 Sharepoint and Groups we cannot justify the expenditure. With the upcoming GDPR data privacy and protection laws coming into effect next year, the time to develop and implement is now. With MS only offering a 30-day trash bin we're looking at actual legal ramifications of file deletion in our 365 environment.
        Thanks for any insight.

I’m looking to store documents as a backup past the 90 day recycle bin that Microsoft provides. I would either store these in a network folder or in Azure. I should be able to restore individual files and run scheduled backups.

This is purely for the cloud.
