Bulk edit metadata without affecting version number
We would like to bulk update the metadata of a library. However, we would like to keep the current version number of the documents, so it cannot be increased when we use ShareGate to bulk update the metadata.

Hello everyone,
A workaround for this at the moment is to turn off the versioning and the content approval on the list or the library you need to update, then use the Bulk Edit Metadata to modify the data you need to modify. One done, simply turn back on the versioning and content approval.
That should do it.

It will be nice if we can update just a metadata of a document without adding version ( Dumb copy of the file which doses not make sense in real world). Other Enterprise content management system like Content Server from OpenText is a lot more flexible on metadata update without the addition of version to document.
