Last Accessed Date/File Share Inventory
To be able to view the "Last accessed date" on file share, in the inventory also
Hi Product team,
Yep me again : as per David McMillan I too have had to resort to a powershell report that I then have to match to the exported metadata spreadsheet so that I can move only files accessed in the past 2 years to the new SharePoint sites, and send all other files to our archive.
As pointed out in past comments, for windows based file shares, having this field visible in the exported metadata for file shares would halve the work I'm currently doing, and it is already a property visible available to your code just not displayed.
Please consider this options

The source analysis report should provide created and last accessed dates as well as any owner information in the standard report for planning purposes. Not everything is generally migrated to SPO from old file servers and decisions need to be made on what materials should be moved forward. This information is critical to that process. Typically it's dumped into a spreadsheet so it can be filtered/sorted to determine how far back in various file shares we should go back. Thanks.
This attribute would be extremely useful for migration from file shares to SharePoint (Online). It's important decision making criteria when not migrating all content.
We have been mandated by our Legal Department to go through our files and delete those that do not meet the Record Retention criteria. My thought..."Great!" I can use Sharegate to identify the files on my computer that are older than the retention period. WRONG!
This feature would save me and others a LOT of time!

I have currently created this report using powershell, because it is critical when preparing clients to migrate from their File Shares. I find there are only four fileds the clients want to see: Full File name (includes directory info), Last Accessed TIme, Last Modified Time and Size. Having this as a premigration report and the ability to filter based on the last accessed or last modified lets them become proactive in preparing the drive for migration.

This is an incredibly important feature to us at the moment, we have users with a myriad files/folders kept in archive locations on Shared drives, and they only want "what they currently use" to be moved. This feature would help us in planning!

Important feature, as we found out today. Our customer wants to migrate only files (from Fileshare to SharePoint Online) that have a "Last Accessed Date" not older than two years. As ShareGate does not support this date field at the moment, we could not recommend ShareGate for this project. That's a shame - we love Sharegate ...
Would also be good to also get this included in the migration import file. I'd also like to see the dated fields of created, modified and accessed in the inventory report. It would also be good to have the creator/document owner field in the inventory like the import file. I am now finding I need to run both to get the information I need.
The inclusion of a 'Last Accessed' column in both the File Inventory Reports and the Export Metadata file would be very beneficial.
- To support file share cleanses. The report can be filtered to show only files accessed within (or outside of) a certain time range to assist in identifying clients' business critical files. Files not accessed in a long time could be excluded from the migration.
- The current 'Modified' date will not apply to PDFs that are unlikely to be modified but may be viewed on a regular basis
