Migrate Microsoft Teams Chatrooms/Channels
Support migration of Microsoft Teams
We need to do a tenant to tenant migration of Office 365. Your tool looks like it could aid with that, but my question is about Microsoft Teams migration. Aside from the Teams content that is in SharePoint, I have not found any supported method to other content from teams such as chats and channel conversation. Is Sharegate working on this?
We have officially started working on this and are aiming at releasing this before the summer.
We will still be looking at feedback given here to ensure that the experience will suits your needs.

merging teams as a part of this?
we want to be able to migrate everything :)
-What exactly you need to copy?
Channels, content, conversations, Planner Tasks, Wikis, OneNotes, Kalender...
-Why would you need to copy one or multiple Teams?
We have to merge 2 big companies, that means we need to copy all existing MS Teams from one tenant to another tenant.
-How do you envision a Teams migration feature — for example — what can you do now, can’t do, and would like to do with this new feature?
The only thing we can do now, is to copy the SharePoint Site of one Team. That doesn't help us much, because there are a lot of things missing - Conversations, Wikis, Channels ... and with this way there is no Team in Teams Admin Center created, only the SharePoint Site. The Goal should be, that we can migrate the whole Teams from one tenant to another tenant, and migrated teams should appear in teams admin center so that we can continue to manage them.
I want to be able to have a full Teams experience to be copied to ex. another Tenant.
This, from my point of view, includes - Channels,Conversations,Files,Tabs and for sure the depending 365 Group SharePoint backend.
So far is no way of copying Teams conversations, the only way to access this dats is Graph.....
Sounds great that ShareGate will look into this issue. :-)
What exactly you need to copy?
We need to copy all setups of the tabs under the specific channel, all conversations under the specific channel and off course all documents in all of the file tabs. So to make it easy 1:1 copy of Teams from one tenant to another
Why would you need to copy one or multiple Teams?
We have to move some of our subsidiary into our tenant
How do you envision a Teams migration feature — for example — what can you do now, can’t do, and would like to do with this new feature?
Read first dot. The only things we can do now is copy the files

We have (lots of) Sharepoint Sites from where we want to migrate content to Teams. More specifically, we want to move/copy the ”Document library” to a specific channel (usually to the General channel) in Teams. Today you can only migrate a library into the root of a Team, which doesn’t make the data available in any of the channels. There is typically 100-200GB data and ~100’000 files, so this needs to be done in one fast go.
The support for moving (on premise data) to a specific channel in team is supported using simple json-files in ”Sharepoint migration tool”, and it is no rocket science at all, but it is a show-stopper for us.

Q: What exactly you need to copy?
A: Channels, Chats, et al
Q: Why would you need to copy one or multiple Teams?
A: Company division and subsidiary company begins using a different tenant. Old Teams should be migrated in their entirety.
Q: How do you envision a Teams migration feature — for example — what can you do now, can’t do, and would like to do with this new feature?
A: Migrating the SharePoint behind the team is already possible, but connecting the channels to the correct folders within the Document Library, team chat(discussions), potentially provisioning planner would all be beneficial features.

It would be ideal to be able to select one or more teams and copy everything related to that team: chat history, channels, SharePoint site, calendars, apps, Flows, etc. This feature would be extremely useful as part of a business acquisition or merger where the businesses both have O365 tenants. The interface should be similar to the copy structure interface for SharePoint site collections. In addition, it would be great to provide an ability to export conversations to a document or list.
Messages, Calendar, Team Channel content, Team Tab Content, SharePoint Content, Shifts Schedules, Planner tasks

Hello, is there any news regarding this topic?
When will ShareGate have the ability to migrate Team sites?
Feedback sent from the Explorer view.
is there the posibility to migrate Microsoft Teams from another Tenant?
Feedback sent from the Source view.
We also need this migration functionality and hope ShareGate will prioritize this soon. Teams implementation is happening very fast for the moment.
do you have an update on this?

just throwing my on $.02 in...please add this! BitTitan has a teams migration feature but it sucks mightily, I know sharegate will bring this feature on right! Love your tool, use it all the time.
This is highly critical feature currently. Now when Teams adaption is ricing, we have multiple customers that would like to do the Teams migration. Your competitors have this feature with limited capabilities, with the chat messages and API limitations, but still it's better than nothing.
We have the same situation here. we are aquiring companies and need to do tenant to tenant migration and we cannot migrate chat which is a major reason we are 'promoting teams'..
Is it possible with a one step copy action, to copy a (Template) Team, with SharePoint site?
If we use the Template functionality in Teams we get a new Team with the same channels and tabs. If we use the copy SharePoint sitecollection here, we copy the settings of the site collection but not the teams. Or is there a trick to this?
(The two step method is of course, create Team with the Team template, copy the required libraries and Sitepages for the layout and extra libraries).

It would be good to have the ability of migrating O365 teams without having to create the empty teams beforehand and then using mapping.
Additionally. to be able to use Powershell to do this would be ideal for bigger scale operations.
