Filter O365 Group Sites from Other Site Collection
All of the groups SC now appear along my site collections, which make it a whole mess to actually get a Permissions Matrix Report of what I need. Could you divide the actual Site Collections from the Group Sites? As in Microsoft Admin Center?
When reporting on permissions or external users, the system throws several errors due to a lack of permissions. The sites reporting the errors are mostly sites based on O365 groups for which I am not an owner/member. Would be nice to have a filter option (in addition to site collections and OneDrive) for O365 group sites.
Overall, love the product. Keep up the great work!
It's a shame this is so low voted, but I appreciate ShareGate at least posting / merging these comments.
It's clear that ShareGate's core customers are still focussed on Migration (as witnessed by the top suggestions in this forum). But, as more and more customers complete their migrations, the focus on ShareGate will need to be in helping us with Admin and Governance. That's where we are!
I've given this feedback before, but either I fail to explain it well or we're such a small minority of SharePoint users that you don't consider this relevant.
But today when I see that the new Office 365 Admin centre gives me precisely what you do not, I thought I would ask you again.
1. We have a SharePoint Intranet (Site Collection) and a main SharePoint Site collection for our Business Units' formal collection of documents and communicaiton. Furthermore, we also use Project Online and some other special site collections. (16 in total).
2. Then we have all our Microsoft Groups (which are technically site collections) and of course the OneDrive site collections. The groups are created by users. OneDrive is a default. We have literally thousands of these site collections.
So how do we get a list and be able to easily navigate through those 16 collections in Group 1 above? Answer: not easily. In ShareGate - not at all. Not possible.
But now in the new SharePoint admin centre, Microsoft have a built-in filter called "sites without a group." And guess what? We see our 16 main collections!
You know I love ShareGate, both as a product and company. But we are virtually finished with migrations. We pay for ShareGate because we find it (usually) a better and easier admin and reporting tool. People will not migrate forever.
Sorry to go on! If this is not clear, just contact me!
Best regards, Nic.
When connecting to Office 365 Tenants in Sharegate Explorer it would be nice to have the quick filter option for Sites created from Groups and Teams. Currently they are grouped in with the Site Collections. It would be nice to see them separate from the standard Site collection filter.
Feedback sent from the Explorer view.
