Compare Two Environments
Quickly compare source and destination content in order to see what needs to be incrementally migrated and to prove to customers that every item from the source made it to destination.
To be compared:
-items
-site settings
-site features
-lists and libraries275 votesThis is not currently in our plan to allow our users to compare two environments.
We might do it in the future, possibly starting with permission as it seems like it would be the most useful part on security level.

Sync Options in the Migration Tool - Incremental Copy
For example, if a file has been deleted in the source after it had gotten copied over to SharePoint, can it be deleted in SharePoint?
The goal is to re-sync only the updates, additions and deletions without the need to copy the whole thing again. It allows to keep on using the source environment while keeping the destination one sync until we're ready to go live with the new site.
Applies to:
-users
-documents (move them to a different location if the user has moved it since the last update)
-content types
-columns
-terms236 votesAs much as we hear your need, this is not currently on our road map. We will revisit it eventually.

Run and Automate Reporting Jobs with PowerShell
Be able to run and schedule reports using PowerShell.
198 votesSince the ability to schedule reports has been included for a while now and with the upcoming feature to automatically export reports into a SP library (see: https://feedback.sharegate.com/forums/912880/suggestions/17768698), I was wondering if this suggestion will still be needed?
What are your thoughts on this?

Add Custom Rules and Filters During Migration or Import
[Admin note: Merged all suggestion related to more complex filtering during Migration or Import]
- Filter on full file names instead of just exensions.
- Filter with wildcards
- Include / Exclude folder by name using the custom templates
- Exclude specific (sub) folders based on names
- Timestamp/range filters - last modified date and created date
- List or site template filters
- Filter by property (name, type, etc.)
- Filter by size
- Filter empty objects (sites, libraries, folders, ...)
- Exclude specific type of objects (Microfeed...)
166 votesWe feel like our migration experience is quite good right now and we don’t plan on doing custom rules and filters for now.
Some of those can already be done using PowerShell, SharePoint views and other means.
We will eventually reevaluate this once we advance further in our roadmap.

Usage reporting and analytics - Event counts (views, deletion, etc.)
-show number of views to a site, or a document.
-show number of visits and of unique visitors.
-show trending content.
-show number of other audited events.
-show most active users.
-Run it on the entire farm and show stats by sites. The goal is to monitor internally the user's experience with SharePoint.

Add a ''Move'' and Delete Option
Having to remember to keep the selection, verify the copy & then delete stuff when you're moving thousands of files around is really hard & painful when you make a mistake. It would be great if you guys had a move option that took care of all of that
155 votesHi everyone.
I am glad to say that we are currently exploring the possibility to add an option to automatically make Read-only and/or Delete the source of migration if it goes errorless.
We’ll keep you updated with any news on this.
Cheers,
J-P

Incremental Migration of Error Items Only & Retry
The idea is to use the migration report to start a new migration of the files that error out only, instead of running a full incremental migration.
147 votesAs much as we really like this idea, it doesn’t fit in the current narrative of ShareGate Desktop.
We will for sure reevaluate this one in a near future.

Report on Metadata
Report on the metadata columns used inside lists and libraries.
131 votesHi everyone,
Since we want to be transparent regarding our roadmap, I just wanted to do a quick update to say that even though we are not declining this idea, we are not planning on adding metadata reporting in the near future. We’ll keep you informed if and when we start working on it.
Thank you,

Email Notifications about Tasks and Migration Status
Option to receive automatic email notifications
- When a task is done
- Migration status- Completion (with details)
- Errors / Warnings / Skipped items
73 votesJean-Philippe Beaulieu responded
Hi everyone,
Since ShareGate Desktop now allow us to automatically export migration reports (and other reports) when a task is done to a SharePoint library, you may easily setup a Microsoft Flow or workflow to notify you when a task is over. If you need some inspiration, I wrote a blog post on how users can leverage Microsoft Flow to share reports by email: https://sharegate.com/blog/use-microsoft-flow-automatically-send-sharegate-desktop-reports
It’s not a native way to get notified, but a nice workaround you could use until we add official email notifications (if we do at some point).
Cheers,
- Completion (with details)

Report duplicates files and document
Pull reports on duplicated files or documents. Clean them after.
71 votesThis is not in our short or medium plan. We understand the need but don’t feel like it’s our priority right now as we focus on the adoption of the modern workplace.

Convert Web Parts and Pages from Classic to Modern
During a migration, have the ability to convert Site Pages and their classic Web Parts to their Modern version (when it exists).
- If a Classic Web Part does not exist as Modern, it should not be converted.
- Custom Web Parts should be ignored.
69 votesHello everyone,
After a review of our roadmap, this suggestion is not a high priority at the moment.
With all the improvements that were done to the SharePoint PnP Modernization framework (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/transform/modernize-userinterface-site-pages) over the last year, we feel like this is a solid alternative right now to convert classic pages to modern ones so we decided to put our efforts in adding more migration capabilities (Teams migration coming soon) to our tool instead.
We’ll keep the suggestion open and will monitor the comments and feedback and will review it in the future.
Thank you,

Preserve List Items IDs for On-Premise Migrations
Preserve List Items ID's
69 votesHi everyone,
Lately we decided to shift most of our energy towards migrating, managing and adopting Office 365. When we create new features, we make sure they also work with SharePoint on-premise (if possible), but we are not planning on developing more options of features specifically for on-premise at the moment.
I’ll keep the suggestion open and our ears are still open to new comments.
Thank you,

Permissions management at item/folder level
Add the possibility to add permissions at the item level with the reporting tool.

Let us know and we will reevaluate this eventually.

Use the "And" or "Or" Logic on Filters in Reports
As it stand, the Reporting feature only supports the "And" logic when adding filters to a report. This is a request to have the option to use the "Or" logic when having multiple filters.
64 votesOur stance still stand on this feature and we still wish to provide it to you guys eventually.
At this point this is more a question of priority and once we feel like our features to move to the cloud and other environnements are on point, we will get to this.

Revamp the Authentication System
-I would love to have only to submit one set of credentials (and maybe have to say “use for all”, for example) and then have source and destination login with these automatically.
-Keep my credentials saved so i dont have to reauthenticate every single time
-When performing a migration i’m being asked to sign in for both the source and the destination whereas a lot of the time its the same credentials for both. I.e. Within the same tenant. It would be helpful to just be able to signin once at the beginning of a session.
-saved credentials / accounts.…
