  1. Include file size in export metadata for file shares

We are looking to import large amounts of data from file shares to SharePoint.
Before we start this data migration, we need to know the sizes of the files.
I have done a trial run and used the 'Export Metadata' button to export the file share meta to a spread sheet. That is fine, but the data does not include the file size of the files stored on the file share. Can file size be included in the data provided by the 'Export Metadata' feature?

  2. Language preference

    Hello,
I am a new ShareGate user. While using the tool last few days, I noticed that it does not allow the language to be changed. We have a tenant in another country and we use English language. Because the tenant is in another country, some of the default folders, lists or libraries that are created show up as a different language. I had to check in the individual folder/list/library property to see which folder I want to use as my source or destination before action for the migration.

There should be a possibility to allow the language to be…

  4. Enable file share source analysis for remote domains

I'm doing a large consolidation project, pulling data from multiple legacy file shares in multiple domains to the central domain SharePoint instance.

Having to install ShareGate somewhere in each domain is a bit annoying. Would be nice if I could specify credentials to use for the scan.

  5. Analyze for file paths too long in Fileshare

    • I thought ShareGate's 'Source analysis' was looking for character limits in the paths on the source side (file share), not on the target side (O365,SharePoint). For me, the name 'Source analysis' would actually imply that it inspects source side and that the logic behind this process is that if SG can read the source side, it is then ensured that the files can be deployed on the target location.

  6. Scan/Report on Long File Names

The 255 character limit for file names can be ignored until migrating. This will result in errors and warning on the migration report. I want to flatten the folder structure or use metadata entirely but I have to know where the issue exists without manipulating a document inventory report with formulas "PATH=LEN".

  8. File Share Source Analysis - Better control over bigger environments

It would be great to have a way to run a summary of network data analyzed. Our environment is large and we are possibly dealing with over ~90TB of network data. The ability to generate summary reports under planning section would add great value to our purpose. We want to know how much data we are dealing with prior actual start of planned migration.

Ability to run summary network data discovery – Summary file Share analysis
    a) User name

    b) total network data ( GB )

    c) Number of file

    d) Mapped network data path

    Ability to run same reports…

  9. Include modified date in source analysis

Please could you include the file modified date as a field in the inventory report (now source analysis).

This would be extremely helpful in cases where you are planning to migrate content within a certain timeframe (e.g. last 6 months). I understand this feature is available in the actual migration but it would be useful in the report to gain a better understanding of the size of the data set.

    Thanks,

  10. Site/Collection structure report

Report that can show you the listed site assets for an entire subsite or collection.

Basically, it would be like looking at the site contents for any selected targets. This would help people flatten there footprints, or consolidate material that's similar between sites. This would help with migration planning, unused content cleanup and help eliminate user created subs that have no content or activity.

  15. SharePoint and Fileshare Inventory Drill Down

It would be neat if you could take the SharePoint inventory report and drill down into the individual stats :

    • Expand workflows since they do not show up in the errors that you can export
    • Be able to click on a summary like unused sites and see a list of all the unused sites
    • Expand checked out files, custom master pages, unsupported templates
    • Sort site collections by size, number of sites, workflows, etc.
