Show all warnings, so a clean migration can happen
Hi ShareGate support,
During a recent migration we had a bad experience of losing data, that could have been picked up if we saw all the errors/warnings in the UI.
Sharegate showed 1 Warning (See Sharegate-Migrationwarning-1.png) when in fact there were 2 warnings (See Sharegate-Migrationwarning-2.png).
The 1st warning is:
'The time zone at the destination is not the same as the source.’
This is also the only warning shown in the UI on the first screen.
However when the item details are opened we can see that there are 2 warnings. We missed this.
The 2nd warning is more important as it is:
'The user does not exist or is not unique.'
After discussions with ShareGate support (Nicholas Liewfatt) we found out that this was caused by orphaned users in SharePoint and was causing file authors in the file history to be replaced by the ‘System user’.
Therefore showing 1 warning when in fact there are 2 is misleading and stopped us noticing that we were losing metadata.
These warnings should be reported on separate lines in the UI so that they are obvious.
Thanks
