Migrate Microsoft Teams Chatrooms/Channels
Support migration of Microsoft Teams

-TabsOriginal post:
We need to do a tenant to tenant migration of Office 365. Your tool looks like it could aid with that, but my question is about Microsoft Teams migration. Aside from the Teams content that is in SharePoint, I have not found any supported method to other content from teams such as chats and channel conversation. Is Sharegate working on this?
119 votesGood news!
Starting today, you can now migrate Microsoft Teams using ShareGate Desktop. This is the first version and we will keep improving it over the upcoming months. For the full release notes, please see: https://support-desktop.sharegate.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043621432

Migration Planner & Scheduler
Would like to:
- Ability to schedule migration
- Ability to schedule incremental migrations daily
- Schedule migration today to run on Friday
- Schedule a migration through the UI
- Create plan60 votesWith the latest release of ShareGate Desktop, it is now possible to schedule the migration through the UI.
This should allow you to easily migrate at off-hours or at any time that is convenient for you. This also allows you, if need be, to schedule a recurring migration.
The time, date and recurrence of a schedule migration can be modified through the Scheduled Tasks UI.
We know this only covers the schedule part of this suggestion. If you want to vote on the planner part, please do so on this new suggestion we opened: https://feedback.sharegate.com/forums/912880/suggestions/38066314

Migration to Office365 Groups
Migration to Office365 Groups
34 votesSharegate now fully supports migration to both Team sites connected to Groups and Communication sites.
Currently this is achieved by toggling the site’s DenyAddAndCustomizePages setting, which requires Tenant administrator role. We are working with Microsoft to enable a way in O365 to support the features without the need for this setting.

Migration of empty/non-valid values and choice fields
It would be nice if Sharegate could migrate lists that have either empty values for required fields and choice values that are no longer in the list settings for the choice field . This feature would inventory all choice and required fields, enable the Allow adding to choice values, remove required field, migrate the data, and then disable the allow adding to choice values and enable the required fields if applicable. This would save time for the admin who has to write/run scripts to take care of this.
19 votesWith today’s release of ShareGate Desktop 15.0, choice fields with values that are not valid at the destiantion should now migrate correctly.

Hello from Sharegate! We released Sharegate 7.1 last week and we are happy to let you know that you can now perform a Copy Structure to Office 365 and force the new experience on lists.
Additionally, here is the list of supported Web Parts for the New Experience https://support.share-gate.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004220574
And as a complement, you can now create a new report on Lists and Libraries (Office 365 of course) with “List Experience” filter and column. From there, you can edit the “List Experience” in the properties displayed in the Quick Actions panel (in the report or directly in the explorer). The “List Experience” can be set to “Tenant default”, “New experience” or “Classic experience”.
My friend Alexandra explains it all in detail with this blog article https://en.share-gate.com/blog/modern-experience-web-apps-and-navigation-improvement
We hope you enjoy these new functionalities! -

Support Office 365 Labels During Migrations
In a migration from on-premises to Office 365, we need to convert a records management functionality that handles document retention to date in Office 365 labels.
14 votesWith today’s release of ShareGate Desktop, Retention labels will be kept during the migration, ONLY for migrations on the same tenant. This should allow you to move elements around in your environments and ensure that they don’t lose information along the way.
If you have any other suggestion, don’t hesitate to contact us.

All special characters should now be properly handled in Sharegate.
Note: Know that different platforms (2013, 2016, O365, file share, Google Drive, Box) support different special characters, so you’ll still have replacements in some cases.

Good evening,
Sharegate 5.17 is now available!! We now support files up to 10GB in size when you are migrating to SharePoint 2016 or Office 365 (can only be done in normal mode).
Thanks a lot for helping us getting better!

There were some remaining issues on Microsoft’s side with long URLs (up to 400 chars) when using the migration API (Insane mode). They were finally fixed recently and we’ll be updating Sharegate in the next release (Sept. 5) to fully support all migration paths for long URLs up to 400 characters.
Side note : Files above 2GB still cannot go through Insane mode. Again, this is a limitation in Office 365 and not in Sharegate. We’ll support it as soon as a fix is available.
