In client perspective, Email Id is real usefull unique field than username in SharePoint. Reports in Sharegate eg.Permission matrix is great but it helps to analyze situation only and we can't take action like bulk informing (Email) to client because email id is missing. There are many such functionality based on email.
I'm surprise with unavailability of basic functionality from 2016 and strongly recommend to release in upcoming updates. It is also good to have more customization in existing reports.
